Mango Thai

Mango Thai on Urbanspoon
My friend and I went on a busy evening – the night of the fireworks, and being located right on Davie, it was really busy. But luckily, there were free tables, so we didn’t have any problems finding a seat.

We thought it was those order and self serve places, so I was surprised as a lady brought us each a glass of water. We did go up to the till later on to order, but I guess they would have come around if we sat longer to wait. But we didn’t want to be too late for the fireworks.

We both ordered the Curry Combo A $11 – both with Pineapple curry. The lady that brought the water earlier was there, but it looked like she didn’t really understand the menu. She kept asking which one it was. The manager looking woman – who seemed really tough was talking to a young guy working there. She didn’t seemed too pleased at how he was working. The young lady told us to order from the the guy. She hastily left the area trying to tell the guy in another language what we might have wanted to order. To make it less confusing, he asked us to tell him the order again.  I thought it wasn’t very organized, and it seemed like it was everyone’s first day.  Perhaps it was. Maybe they’re working only because of the fireworks…

Anyways, the guy was really friendly and smiling the entire time. He seemed unaffected by the chaos that the others might feel. He asked if we wanted the curry mild, medium or hot. I ordered mine mild, while my friend asked for medium. You had the choice of chicken or beef. We both ordered chicken.

First came the soup and salad. Nothing fancy but it was ok. The main was curry, rice and spring rolls. The spring roll was really hot (temp. wise) and was delicious. It was the first time trying out pineapple curry, but I found the spice of the curry and the sweetness of the pineapple to go very well. It was quite filling, and $11 for the combo is a really good deal, especially if just the pineapple curry dish would normally cost $8 for 16 oz and $11 for 22 oz alone.

The restaurant isn’t anything fancy, but if you’re looking for something faster and inexpensive, this is a must try. Next time, I’d like to try out the Entree Combo $11!!
