La Cuisson Cafe

La Cuisson Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato Originally, I went to Beacoup Bakery after a friend had recommend it. But since all the seats were taken with a big lineup, we decided to go to Sweet Obsession instead. However, that place was also the same situation. In the end, we ended up in Kerrisdale area and came upon La Cuisson Cafe. It seemed like a regular cafe with some interesting decor, so I was a bit surprised to see what seemed to be the owner seat us to a table and offer High Tea along with the regular menu.

Nice infographic explaining the different drinks!idearabbit-lacuisson4 idearabbit-lacuisson6 idearabbit-lacuisson12I wouldn’t expect High Tea from this place – the setting didn’t fit in for my image of a Victorian High Tea setting. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful in making our decisions on what to get. We both got the special offer of drink and cake combo.

idearabbit-lacuisson5idearabbit-lacuisson8I ordered the Tea Combo $11.95 since I wanted something caffeine free. I got the Creme Caramel tea with Caramel Pear Mousse Cake (yes, in the mood for some caramel stuff…lol) Regularly, the tea would be $6.95 with $5.95 cake = $12.90

idearabbit-lacuisson9 idearabbit-lacuisson11The glass tea pot sat on a glass coffee cafe candle warmer. Very nice! The tea was delicious! The tea cup was lovely. The cake was super soft and not sweet – just the kind of cake I like!! :) Apparently, the cakes are made by the owner’s wife without the use of chemical and quality ingredients.

idearabbit-lacuisson7Sheepie ordered the Latte and also Caramel Pear Mousse Cake combo $9.95. The latte came in a interesting cup with a coaster. Sheepie was super delighted about the place (as he has never been to a High Tea before). We didn’t have High Tea, but the experience is still a step-up from your average coffee shop, which he liked.

idearabbit-lacuisson10I don’t think I’d get the High Tea here, but the cake and tea are excellent. They do run pretty low on their cakes by the end of the day though.

Christmas Eve
I checked online to find a place for dessert on Christmas Eve, only to find that most places were closed. I phone La Cuisson and was happy to know that they were open till 6pm.

idearabbit-lacuisson13 idearabbit-lacuisson14I ordered the same combo as last time (tea with cake) and got a Chocolate Mousse for the cake. I’m not quite sure, but the bottom crunchy layer seemed a bit nutty, so I gave the bottom layer to Sheepie. If you are super allergic to nuts, best to ask which cakes could contain nuts!
Again, it was a nice and relaxing experience. It was not full again – but then again, it was Eve.

Update

We returned this time with a group of 7 people. I had my usual combo of tea and cake $11.95. Once again, I got the Creme Caramel tea with Caramel Pudding this time. Their desserts are always different each time we come, so it’s quite interesting to try something new each time.

idearabbit_lacuisson22So cute!!!

idearabbit_lacuisson26idearabbit_lacuisson23As always, it delightful with the beautiful tea cups, and the candle-lit tea pots. The pudding was light, and not overly sweet. I could have had 3 more of them, lol.

idearabbit_lacuisson24 idearabbit_lacuisson25Good service, good tea and dessert with great atmosphere. Love coming back.
