Kamei Baru

Click to add a blog post for Kamei Baru on Zomato For a big group of about 15 people, I hosted a lunch meeting at Kamei Baru on Mother’s day. I had never gone to it, so it was a bit of risk to take a huge group there without trying it out first on my own, but since I knew Kamei Royale and Ebisu which were under the same management, I confidently made my reservation.
I thought that the special lunch menu on their website was available everyday. To my huge disappointment and shock, they were only available during the weekdays. Nooooooooo! This menu had awesome deals and combos. I was embarrassed to have boldly advertised to everyone that they had a great lunch menu. I went back onto their website, and nowhere does it indicate the day restrictions!

I first ordered the Baru Hamburg Steak $14.95 with a side order of rice. Unfortunately, the server came back saying that they didn’t have any of it left. Boo…so I re-looked at the menu again.

idearabbit-kameibaru3I ordered the Baru Avocado Salad $7.50 which was fairly priced. It was presented very beautifully, and you had the choice of either anchovy or ginger dressing. I chose ginger. The veggies were fresh and the variety was a entertaining flavour for my mouth. It was a pretty decent portion.
idearabbit-kameibaru4For my main, I ordered the Kurobuta Sausage $8.95 with premium Japanese Kurobuta pork with mashed potatoes. There were 4 sausages, and they were pretty good.
The restaurant has a bar like atmosphere, unlike Kamei Royale which has an older, authentic, quieter atmosphere. This place was more lively, attracting younger customers, and a western feel, though the menu was pretty similar to Kamei Royale.
Service was very good, though one guy’s negitoro took forever for some reason. I didn’t taste it myself, but my friend ordered the Spicy tuna roll and Spicy salmon roll, both which were drowning in sauce – which I’m not a fan of. So, for me, it was good to steer away from the regular rolls, and focus on other dishes.
