Cafe Mozart

Cafe Mozart Restaurant on UrbanspoonIt was Boxing day in Leavenworth, and only a day after Christmas, the streets and shops were filled with tourists. That also meant long line-ups at restaurants. There was one we thought was very authentic looking, but there was a 40 minute wait, and Sheepie hated waiting.

We found Mozart Cafe on the second floor with no one in line. We were seated by the window after we got a hold of one of the staff. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed. He told us that there were only two of them working out on the floor, making service very slow, and indeed it was. We still had to wait 30 minutes for the food to come out, and the server forgot to bring Sheepie’s buns which went with his Clam Chowder Soup $8 USD. We notified the other staff and got it right away though.

idearabbit-mozartcafe1 idearabbit-mozartcafe2 idearabbit-mozartcafe3I ordered the Bratwurst with super crunchy and skinny fries with dijon sauce. Sausage in bread? Not authentic, but Sheepie liked my bread more than his buns so he took half of it as I’m not a bread person. The bratwurst was good, and the fries were like crackers.
I think they did a fairly good job on the interior and it had a nice atmosphere. Good food and no lineups.

Heidi’s Bun & Kaffee Haus

Heidi's Kaffee Haus on UrbanspoonNothing is really German about this cafe except for the name. Many cafes in Germany were stocked in over abundance with bread, sweets and sandwiches. This place had very little and not all that appealing. I ordered an Apple glazed donut and Chai Latte. The latte was nothing like in Europe. Overly sweet and undrinkable. I felt like I was going to be diabetic. It was more American than anything else. I couldn’t finish even half.
The Christmas tree in the corner was nice.
Service was satisfactory.

Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box on UrbanspoonOn Christmas Day, we were driving to the US and we stopped by – gasp! at Jack in the Box after driving through customs. I always feel really greasy after leaving here – could be because I see how many calories each meal has up on the menu board, or because I see so much grease coming from the food itself.

idearabbit-jackinthebox_border idearabbit-jackinthebox_border2I ordered just the 10 Chicken Nuggets $2.59 USD while Sheepie had the Jack’s Spicy Chicken Burger meal with small curly fries and a small drink $6.99 USD

idearabbit-jackinthebox_border3idearabbit-jackinthebox_border6idearabbit-jackinthebox_border4The nuggets were brown like they were deep fried in old oil. They were much smaller than McDonald’s or Wendy’s. Wasn’t crispy, didn’t taste as good either and left huge grease stains on the boxes.idearabbit-jackinthebox_border5The curly fries were ok.
The restaurant was bare when we came in, but it got pretty busy when we were about to leave as it was the only place open in the area.
Next time, I will order a chicken salad instead…lol
