Free Admission at Science World!!! Sept 28 & 29 2013

I’ve told a few friends about it, and they were really happy that I told them about it, so I thought I’d share it through my blog too. With admission at Science World at $22.50-$28.50 for adult entry, I’d been reluctant to go back…but with free admission there are no excuses in not going. With the kick-off to its ‘Around the Dome in 30 Days’ Month-Long Science Festival and the recent major $35-million renovation and expansion, those are also good reasons to check out the museum.

It’s pouring and cold outside, what better way to spend the day inside and learn new things about the world!

John Chow’s Seminar

I had heard John Chow’s name from time to time as the biggest blogger and thought it would be interesting in finding out more.
So through a business network group on meetup.com, I went to an event where he was speaking on how to earn big bucks. Entry fee was $5.

The room was packed with about 100 people, all eager to learn more. I thought that people generated money through the ads on their blogs, but I was very wrong. I learned more about emails, newsletters, and most importantly, affiliate programs. That was what got you more money, not a penny for 1000 impression of ads.

The problem was how to get people to sign up for your newsletter through your blog. I seem to get people following my RSS feed, but no one is giving their email address for me to send out my newsletters to, making it extremely difficult. He suggested giving readers an incentive to sign up – for example, he offers his ebook free of download if you sign up to his newsletters. I could give out my illustrated ebook out for those who sign up, but then I run into technical issues of setting that up. It’s not as easy as John Chow keeps saying – he said ‘oh you can get this all set up over a weekend’. Right…

However, I did learn some useful tips. If you see that he’s going to give a speech, I highly recommend going see John Chow! Likely showing off his new gift from one of the big brands ;)

Teddy Bear and IDEA Rabbit Omlette Rice

Recently, I had the chance to cook up a time consuming meal. I saw a video on YouTube by ochikeron on making Rirakkuma Omurice. It was super cute and amazing at the same time. I wanted to give it a try…

I followed most of the steps. The first ‘test’ run, I didn’t have any cheese for the snout, ears and paws, but it still turned out pretty well. I was pretty stoked.

The next time was the real run, and I made the bear for a guest, while making the rabbit for myself. It was really time consuming, but kinda fun at the same time. It’s been a while since I’ve been crafty and artsy, so it was a way of brushing up of my skills – not to mention in cooking too, though this dish doesn’t really require anything complicated.

Give it a try yourself and amaze your family and friends. They’ll love it! Check out ochikeron’s video >> here
