Naan Bites

During the Boxing Week, I decided to go check out the Queensborough Landing in New Westminster. The parking lot was packed, and I was quite surprised to see so many outlets. After spending hours shopping, we were hungry, so we went to try out Naan Bites.

I had the Curry Rice Bowl (with Butter Chicken) $7.99 I was shocked at the difference that I and Sheepie’s order had. He had only paid a dollar more and he had a complete full meal. I wished that I had ordered his instead, though I am not complaining about the taste of my curry, it was pretty good, but not worth $8 for the bowl!

Sheepie had the Tiffin Thali (with one meat; Chicken and one veggie; Paneer Makhani curry) $8.99 along with a Pop $1.19 The curry was very tasty and a better deal than mine.
The place is fairly clean, and service is ok.

Hi Sushi Japanese Restaurant

On a rare occasion that we were in New Westminster, we were told of a good sushi place conveniently located near the New Westminster train station. We were a bit skeptical at first since there were only 2 tables occupied in a nicely open and modern restaurant. I really liked the 3D blocks of letters and explanations on the walls (which unfortunately do not have the photos of…)

The cuisine were all served on porcelain plates, including the tea cups which is a nice alternative to everything being plastic and cheap looking.

Pork Gyoza (5 pieces) $4.50. Nicely made and good flavour

The salad was fresh, sushi rolls were satisfactory, and the crispy tempura and light broth udon was delicious. Presentation was well prepared. Friendly and attentive service. Fair prices.
I wish this was in my neighbourhood! Plan to go back again when I’m in the area in the future!

Trapp+HolBrook Modern Living in Historic New Westminster

We were in New Westminster, and happened to notice the Trapp+Holbrook sales centre, so we dropped by to take a look.
The sales centre was bright and spacious. I was happy to see that they had the actual showrooms available. It was nicely presented, and the staff were quite friendly.

For a 1 bedroom, it started from $219,900 to $307,900. The 2bed/2bed+den penthouses were half a million. However, those planning to buy their homes can think of the potential of development around the area. It is said to be the new ‘Yaletown’ of New West. Without the bridges to cross like from Surrey, this area is probably going to flourish in the upcoming years as Vancouver and Burnaby becomes increasingly unaffordable for many people.

Their presentation folder was slick and modern. They had an interactive TV which you could choose the floor, and see the view from that suite. Very good idea.

I don’t know if the website hasn’t been updated, or that it really is under construction, but the website now says it closed for construction…only viewing by appointment. Call ahead!
