Bon Bon Bakery

Bon Bon Bakery Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - ZomatoA little bakery in North Burnaby. They have a variety of breads, cakes and pastries. They all looked good, so we decided to give the pastries a try.

Unfortunately, it’s the worst pastries ever. It was hard, dry, and tasted unnatural. There was nothing good about it except for the aesthetics. I barely ate them, and gave the rest to Sheepie. Despite him eating it all, he wasn’t pleased with them either.

The cafe part seems to be bare, but customers after customers do come by to pick up their special occasion cake. I would not want a cake from here.

Faubourg

Faubourg on UrbanspoonI’ve always seen this place packed with trendy, Yaletown-like or more rather Coal-harbour like customers inside. The chandeliers from the windows were always attractive and was wanting to check it out for a while.

I ordered the Vanilla Rooibos tea $3.30 and Creme Brulee $5.05. Servers were friendly and helpful. Hearing quite a bit of French in the cafe from the customers was a nice change of atmosphere when I usually hear Chinese or Korean in my environment. The cafe was again packed and got a little table by the window, which wasn’t a good idea on a cool winter day since I froze.

idearabbit-faubourg6 idearabbit-faubourg7The tea pot is cute, though the lid’s knob is pretty hot!! The Creme Brulee’s sugar coating was almost impossible to break through. I think the opening of the plastic container is too small, making it unbreakable. Even after I broke through, it was difficult eating the thing. In the end, there was about a third of the crispy top leftover as I just couldn’t get them to break off from the sides of the plastic cup. The taste was good, and the fruits were fresh and sweet.

Thomas Haas in North Vancouver

Thomas Haas Fine Chocolates & Patisserie on UrbanspoonI’m rarely in North Vancouver, but happen to due to work. I had been to the Kitsilano location, but never to the one in North Van. I was really surprised at how busy it was. Sure the cafe – or more like retail shop (not much seating space, nor standing space for that matter!) is small, but it seemed like the location was out in the middle of nowhere in Harbourside.
Service was satisfactory, although a bit slow or disorganized. I prefer the one in Kits just because of it’s accessible location and more tables to sit and relax with friends without people bumping into you all the time.

Chocolate is always of high quality. Love the packaging. Presentation of the sweets are very precise and artistic.
