So we were at the International Night Market and Subway had a stand there giving out free coupons. Ok, so not completely free as you had to spin the wheel and do some sort of exercise. I had to do 10 jumping jacks for a free salad. No complaints

I went to get my free salad for my lunch. None of the staff knew about the promotion. (this was not surprising since the other 2 Subways did not accept the voucher or know about it either). The supervisor on site asked where I had got it. After the salad was made, he was trying to make the salad ‘free’ in the POS system. But since he couldn’t, and the lineup was getting longer and longer behind me, he told me to pay now, and come back the next day when the manager returns, in which then he would be able to give me a full refund.

I had felt bad on taking just a free salad, so I had also ordered soup, but then I felt a bit annoyed that I had to come back. Sure, it’s free in the end, but why the heck would Subway hand out coupons that no store knew about? When I recall the days back at working in Burger King and McDonald’s, I remember our supervisors telling us of new promotions and such each time they came out. So for managers to not know what’s going on, leaves me the impression that Subway doesn’t have good communication between the headquarters and the franchisees.

Onto the salad itself. I asked for everything, except the hot peppers, and added chicken. The Chicken Strip Salad was $7.25. To get such a large salad for free was awesome. However, I don’t think I’d pay the full price for the quality. I think McDonald’s salads are better. The lettuces were brown, and pink-reddish on the edges – indicating they’ve been cut a day or two before and wasn’t all too fresh.

The Potato soup $2.69 was creamy and quite tasty. A bit on the salty side, but still good.

When I returned, the Chinese or Korean manager had a bit of an attitude. When I tried to explain sometimes, he would cut me saying “Just a minute, just a minute” in a bit of an arrogant way. I felt like I had brought a fraud coupon and was trying to justify for my refund.

I and Sheepie used to go to Subway all the time. The $5 foot-long sandwich deals were a steal. Unfortunately, they got rid of them, and now offer a type of foot-long sandwich for $6.50, different for each day of the week. It’s still a good deal though. However, I didn’t see this offered at this location, so I wonder if it’s only the one in downtown on Davie that does it…not sure…

I reduced the number of times of going to Subway after hearing about the materials used in yoga mats and shoes in their bread. Ok, so they’ve taken it out they say, but then what else could be in their other food?
