Voyage Cafe

Voyage Cafe on UrbanspoonI actually had blogged about this place when it was called Waffles and Berries. Not much has changed inside, so not sure for the reason why they changed their name…
The cafe is catered towards chicks with comfy chairs, a simple chandelier, a piano and nice sleek interior. From a design perspective though, I am not a fan of the new logo/look. The previous Waffle and Berries was much more feminine, sophisticated and higher-end.

idearabbit-voyagecafe idearabbit-voyagecafe2 idearabbit-voyagecafe3I had a Social Shopper voucher for two waffles and two hot/cold drinks for only $13. Slightly disorganized that the girl had to hand write the orders as she ripped off slips from the receipt machine. And even with not many customers, it seemed to take a while for our drinks and dessert. I think they only have one other person working in the back…

idearabbit-voyagecafe5I ordered the Sakura and Snow with Chai Latte, while Sheepie asked for the Dark Forest. Unfortunately, as we got ready to sit ourselves, the staff came over to tell us they were out of chocolate ice cream…so he changed his order to Waffle and Berries instead with Liege waffle, milk chocolate, whipped cream and mixed berries.

idearabbit-voyagecafe4 idearabbit-voyagecafe6He ordered a Espresso Macchiatto which he was disappointed in since it was a really small cup…I know espresso comes in those petite cups, but I guess he was wanting more milk foam and a bigger cup…His spoon that came with the drink was dirty. His utensil wrapped in napkin was also dirty, but I think the staff spilt some of the espresso and it went onto the spoon and napkins. (cuz I saw her out of the corner of my eye rushing to clean the espresso cup, but probably neglected to check other things)

Sakura and Snow had Liege waffle, strawberries, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. Both of our waffles were presented nicely. It tasted really good! However, $10 for a waffle with some topping is a bit pricey.

Good desserts but in a slightly inconvenient location.

Mimi Buloveme

Mimibuloveme Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato A very small cafe, but popular for desserts that I’ve been wanting to try for a while. It was already 8:45pm on a Friday night, but it was almost full, with people coming in for take out. The music was a bit loud (why do cafes and restaurants blast their music?) It’s something I’ve become really annoyed with since I not only go out to eat, but to converse with people.

idearabbit-mimibuloveme idearabbit-mimibuloveme2The actual physical menu is quite disappointing. It’s a 8.5″x11″ white sheet printed with your normal desktop laser printer. With use, it’s become crumpled and terrible. idearabbit-mimibuloveme3 idearabbit-mimibuloveme4 idearabbit-mimibuloveme5 idearabbit-mimibuloveme6 idearabbit-mimibuloveme9The decor is very simple, but clean. They have this gadget at the cashier where when you push a button on what looks like a box usually for oranges (only mini in size), a mechanical cat meows and pulls its paws out. Very cute, lol.

idearabbit-mimibuloveme8I ordered the Matcha Waffle $6.50 with Matcha gelato, mochi ball, gyumi, red beans, white chocolate matcha sauce, whip crean and raspberry. Mmmmmmmm!!! I love this! I think it’s fair price, and the portion is great. Nice presentation. Thumbs up!

idearabbit-mimibuloveme7Sheepie ordered the Hedgehog Parfait $7.50 with Hedgehog gelato, chocolate cake, marshmallows and whip cream. Again, very nice portions.

The interior could use a bit more character to it…well literally too…they could use more of the cat character throughout – like on the menu. I’m not sure why the cafe has the word ‘Bubble House’. The place certainly does have a bubble place feel to it. But to not put up their name is kind of weird. It’s easy to miss if it’s your first time going there, or worse, if you don’t know about it, you may never enter because you think it’s a bubble teahouse.

But despite that, they seem to be doing well. By the time we were getting ready to leave, there was a couple waiting for a table to open. Would love to come back again for more waffle desserts! :)

WE Coffee

WE. Coffee on UrbanspoonI had always been attracted to their branding look, and was eager to try out the place. (though when I checked recently, I noticed that they had simplified their logo, like with many other business wanting to ‘modern’ with their identity. I’m kinda sad about this since I thought their original logo was unique and suited their cafe. The new one doesn’t seem to say anything and looks like any other logo out there. It has no character, and although I understand that easier logos makes them more versatile, this is stripping too much.)

The cafe is upscale, not like your typical comfy, sit by the fireplace, chill-out cafe. This is a higher end cafe, typically seen in Japan and Korea where young people, mostly girls go and chat for the afternoon. So it’s not surprisingly that most of the customers looks like they are either from Korea or Japan. I was also there with a Korean friends to catch up on our lives.

The interior is slick and modern with black chairs and shiny white tables. The painting on the wall reminds me of one of our teacher who painted like that. It added to the ‘urban’ feel of the cafe.

I ordered the Fruit Ballet (3 seasonal fresh fruit, blueberry sauce, whipped cream, vanilla bean ice cream with 2 waffles) $7.99 (if you want 4 waffles, then it’s $11.99) along with a tea $2.25. When you think about it, the ingredients aren’t that expensive. But you are paying for the experience, the atmosphere, and the service – which is most often pretty good. Unlike Starbucks, the servers will come by your table and take orders/bring food and drinks like a restaurant. Presentation is done with care and makes the food even more tasty.

The Tiramisu Cheesecake $5.75 was a bit too sweet for me, so my friend ended up having most of it.

I really like this cafe! I usually take my friends there, and they’re happy with the place too. I highly recommend!
