Chewy Junior’s

Chewy Junior's Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - ZomatoDisclaimer: *This was a complimentary offer. This post was not edited nor written for monetary compensation, and are solely my opinions and observations.

Zomato and Chewy Junior partnered up to offer food bloggers a complimentary one puff and one coffee. I had never been to it, so I was curious to what they’re puffs were like.

Since our weekends are always busy, I decided to grab a bite and coffee first thing in the morning. I normally don’t drink coffee because of caffeine (if I drink even a cup in the afternoon, be ready to be up till 4or 5am…)

idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior8 idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior7 idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior6We arrived at the tiny cafe around 10:30am. We were on our way to PoCo, so we didn’t have all the time in the world. I was kind of worried after reading Simon’s review on Chewy Junior’s where they opened an hour late. Luckily, I saw a person ahead of us go in, and saw two staff. However, it was like they had just opened 5 minutes ago. Most of the shelves were empty, and after showing my coupon from Zomato, the staff told us they had other flavours coming, but it would take a while.

idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior5 idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior4I have worked in the food industry before (several actually), and we had to come at least, minimum an hour before to prepare the food. It seemed they came in at 10 and not even ready 30 minutes later isn’t such a good business model. You are going to disappoint many people looking for some sweet bites with their morning coffee. I’m not sure if it was because it was a slow Saturday that they weren’t all ready, but it was a bit of an unfortunate start to our experience. But that’s just my opinion.

I was curious in trying the Matcha, but they didn’t have any, so I had the Double Chocolate Crunch, which I also wanted to try anyways, so it worked out. I had one with a small coffee. I knew to be prepared with the fillings from the reviews I read, so I was careful. We were originally going to take it with us and eat in the car, but I thought that would be dangerous in his new car…so we stayed.

Nothing fancy about the packaging.Their logo is stamped onto a standard take-out box.idearabbit_bonchaz_chewyjunior1I was just warning Sheepie about the cream when it oozed out onto the table as Sheepie took a bite. However, no big disaster ;) The bread was chewy, and the
cream was delightful. Not super sweet and dense. I liked it, though a bit pricey.

I guess the lesson learnt here and from Simon’s is not to go until noon if you want to make sure your puffs are available. Not much to say about the service. The staff weren’t super friendly or anything – just served us. Maybe I’ll return to try some other flavours with friends next time.
