My friend and I were attending free lectures at UBC, celebrating their centennial year. For lunch, we went to Loafe Cafe which was conveniently located in the same building as the lecture hall. It’s a modern, slick cafe with a touch of hipsterish feel from the blackboard/chalk menu.
I had a bowl of soup $4.95 and a side order of salad $4.95 of Coconut Quinoa. I wasn’t expecting such a large portion, so my friend and I were quite surprised. The quinoa salad had a hint of sweetness from the coconut, but a refreshing zesty flavour from the squeezed lime. It was so delcious. I loved it. Felt healthy too.
The soup was nice and hot of tomato. There weren’t much chunks of ingredients in it, but I didn’t mind. It was also good.
My friend had the Smashed Avo Toast $7.95 with avocado, garlic oil, alfalfa sprouts, cranberry, all on top of walnut loaves. It was beautifully presented, and also looked healthy too. Though she couldn’t resist the loaf breads, and she had a slice.
Service was satisfactory. The food was great. Prices are fair. I wished we had these kinds of cafes when I went to university! (not UBC)
