Bubble World in Richmond

Bubble World Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato A group of us had just played the Murder Mystery Game that’s popping up in Richmond (the one we went to was Freeing Canada) and we wanted to grab a bite afterwards, so we headed to Bubble World. It was quite full and busy, but we managed to get a 8 person table right away.

I had the Beef Noodle. It was decent size, but I find it to be drowning in the sauce. It wasn’t anything extraordinary – not something I would order or come back for.

Sheepie ordered the Three Sauce Chicken $7.95. Good price for the portion, but the veggies were cold, the chicken was boney – not the kinds that we like. Sheepie kept complaining it was garbage.   We both don’t really like oily, greasy meat dishes that are full of bones and fat. It’s just our preference. My Chinese friends love those pork knuckles…argh…no no for me.

idearabbit-bubbleworld idearabbit-bubbleworld2 idearabbit-bubbleworld3The interior was fine and had a decent seating capacity. Not much to say about service. Some of the other’s dishes, especially the hot pots looked quite impressive, though can’t really comment on the taste. The slush that some ordered were huge! Wow.

Return
A friend brought us back for a late afternoon ‘lunch’. We got a table right away, as the staff pointed to a table on the other side of the room.

idearabbit_bubble-world20 idearabbit_bubble-world21I ordered the Pork Dumplings $4.95. It didn’t come out nicely as it did in the photo from the menu, but still, it was plenty for a pretty inexpensive price. It was juicy, and the sauce and dumplings would have definitely gone well with some rice! Service was ok. The place was kept orderly and clean despite the busy atmosphere.

Well Tea in Richmond

Well Tea 茶井 on Urbanspoon

We decided to go to Well Tea since it was one of the few places that was open past midnight (open till 2am on Friday and Sat nights – 1am on other nights).

My company told me that he had come to the restaurant many times with his Chinese-Richmond friend late at night to eat. He said that the place was racist and ignored him, as he was Caucasian.

There was another couple that sat near us, who were also Asian girl with Caucasian guy. They seem to have been seated way before we came, but they still had their menus on the table.idearabbit-welltea_richmond20

The decor was cheap looking, although the glass on the floor with decor seemed interesting. Like other places in Richmond, it was open wide with lots of tables and seats. Young Asians working that seems unmotivated to be there. Well, as a customer, I also wasn’t too happy to be there either. Even the betta fish at the entrance was bored and unenergetic – totally unlike my Mina!

The mixed couple waited longer for their order to be taken, while we tried deciding on what to eat. Nothing healthy on the menu for sure…We finally decided to get bubble tea and an omelet, but the server took forever to come to our table. It was frustrating.

The bubble tea tasted like Shampoo…gross…I know bubble tea isn’t the healthiest drink to start off with, but to have it taste all chemically was even more terrible. The omelet was simple, not worth eating at a restaurant. The service was terrible, nothing was good about the place…it’s no wonder that the location in the heart of downtown has closed down! (Yes, it’s closed down, but read my review on the downtown location) Never ever returning!

International Summer Night Market

International Summer Night Market 國際夏日夜市 on UrbanspoonAfter going to the Richmond Night Market, we decided to go to the Summer Night Market for a change. Admission is free, and finding parking is a lot easier than the other market.
Despite the free admission, there is less crowds than the other one. It could be because there are less booths, but most of the booths – at least what they offer seem to be similar.

There is a small stage where for the entire evening, there was live performance from belly dancing and hip hop singers. We lined up at one of the booth to get the taiyaki and the famous hurricane potato. I’d always wanted to try out the hurricane so it was about time.

There are several filling options for the taiyaki $1. Nutella, red bean or Bavarian cream. I wanted the red bean, but my friend wanted the Bavarian, so we got that. It was super hot, and I ended up burning my tongue T_T. My friend squeezed and cream shot out burning him a lot more. He complained to the people that there should be some warning – either by telling us, or a sign.idearabbit_international_summer_night_market1

There were also different flavours available for the hurricane $4. We got the BBQ. Looked greasy although it wasn’t extremely terrible but it was EXTREMELY salty. My friend brushed off the BBQ powder that they had rolled the potato as much as he could. We  forced ourselves to eat it, but only could do half. The saltiness was nauseating. We ended up throwing away the rest. Should have gotten plain!

There’s a Pepsi stand to see whether you like coke or Pepsi. We were both coke drinkers, and ended up choosing (blindly) liking coke. Pepsi had a chemical after taste. Anyways, there’s no right or wrong answer. I think Pepsi does it to see which ones are popular. For participating, we each got free bag of sunflower seeds.

Near closing time, around 11:30pm or so, you can enjoy the closing sale deals. Many booths will have their dishes lowered to $2. Closes at midnight!

Open from May 10 to September 8, 2013.
Friday and Saturday: 7pm – 12am
Sunday and holidays: 7pm – 11pm
