Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co.

Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. on UrbanspoonSheepie and I wanted to go back to Sweet Revenge, but it had a really long lineup, so we walked around in the neighbourhood and came upon Rocky Mountain Flatbread. Since we already had dinner, we were only there for dessert. We both had their special daily cheesecake $7.50 each.

The server was kind enough to make me a Rooibos Latte $3, and allowed Sheepie to instruct her on how to make a Latte Macchiato $3 – which apparently doesn’t exist here in Canada. It’s my favourite drink in Europe (pretty much the only thing I drank while traveling), but here, nobody knows what it is. However, I try to stay away from caffeine since I end up not being able to sleep till 7am in the morning (and get up shortly for work! – yup, I’m dead on those days…)

The place has a nice warm cosy atmosphere with the birch coloured seatings and red walls. The cheesecake and drinks were really good and I’m eager to come back to try their food next time. I was attracted to their sustainability initiave. Their dishes feature local & organic produce, free range organic meats & Ocean Wise seafood. They are handcrafted daily in house and all of the flatbread pizzas, pastas, salads, daily soups & desserts are available gluten free for an extra fee.
The service was good and looking forward to coming back!

Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle: Showcase Restaurant & Bar

Showcase Restaurant & Bar - Marriott Pinnacle Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
I expected the prices to be pretty high considering the nice interior and atmosphere of the hotel. We found out that they had a “Happy Hour” menu which were half the price of the regular prices! Nice!

idearabbit_marriottpinacle idearabbit_marriottpinacle2 idearabbit_marriottpinacle3 idearabbit_marriottpinacle4idearabbit_marriottpinacle6Tortilla Chip $2.50 was really crisp with all the chips not broken into little pieces. The salsa dip was fresh and tasted really good. Couldn’t get enough of it. I would definitely order these again! Mmmm!
idearabbit_marriottpinacle5Mushroom Flatbread $6.50 with mushrooms, truffle, arugula. I love arugula! The flatbread was very tasty and not too burnt or too thick.

Sheepie’s diet coke was a whopping $4 (I had hot water on a cold windy day), making it the most expensive thing we ordered. LOL. But again, the other prices looks great because of happy hour.

The place has a really nice atmosphere, Happy Hour is very inexpensive, though the regular prices aren’t outrageously expensive. Service was professional and friendly.

A new found gem! We’ll definitely back for more Happy Hour :D

Olive Garden

Olive Garden Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato On our way home from Seattle’s Premium Outlet, we stopped by at Olive Garden for dinner. The exterior of the restaurant  seemed warm and inviting. The interior had a nice Italian look, and Sheepie even mentioned some parts looking very European. It’s super comfy, and the menu is extensive (not to mention nicely designed ;) I much prefer Olive Garden now over White Spot (though can I even compare the two? LOL) Denny’s would sit at the bottom of that list…

Our server was bubbly and joyful. I’m not sure if it was because it was America or if Olive Garden staff are always this cheerful.

Anyways, the portion of the food is always big in the US!

I ordered Pappardelle Pescatore $18.79 USD ($21.79 at locations in Canada) It was huge and delicious with sautéed shrimp, bay scallops and clams mixed with pappardelle pasta, asparagus and tomatoes in a creamy, red pepper seafood sauce. Excellent!

It came with a soup, and I got the Chicken and Gnocchi. It was really good, though a bit on the salty side. The server asked I wanted seconds. I’m not sure if that’s complimentary, but I declined knowing I had the big main dish coming. The bread sticks that came for the both of us were also too salty. It had a good garlic flavour though. The server asked if we wanted more bread, but we also declined on that as well.

Sheepie ordered the Grilled Chicken Flatbread $10.29 USD. I didn’t have any, so can’t comment, but looked really good.

idea-rabbit_mascot-joyI would highly recommend Olive Garden. I love the place now! I myself would love to go back again, but unfortunately, there are no Olive Gardens in Vancouver. Closest one is in Langley…

Very good food, the size is awesome for the price (though perhaps not good for the waistline :P ) and great, friendly servers.
