La Lasita Tacos

La Casita Tacos on UrbanspoonNicely decorated and casual Mexican restaurant on Robson. Sheepie and I ordered the 4 tacos for $10 deal. You can select four different types from the ‘Tacos’ category. We got the Baja Fish, Al Pastor, Beef Carne Asada Con Rajas and Chicken Mole.

To our surprise, each taco was small, about 10 cm in diameter, size of dumplings.

The Baja Fish has a refreshing coleslaw salad with pacific cod in a Mexican beer batter. The fish was really soft and tasty.

The Chicken Mole was with white and dark chicken seasoned with onion, salt pepper and oregano. I didn’t think of it too much. Meh…

The Beef Carne Asada con Rajas had grilled beef sirloin with poblano peppers and onions. It had a garlic, spicy flavour that was pretty good, but the beef was really chewy.

Al Pastor had pork and onions marinated in achiote and grilled, topped with pineapple. The port was hard and difficult to eat.

Since we shared the four small tacos amongst the two of us, Sheepie was still quite hungry. He got a Mushroom & Onion Quesadillas $3.50. Again, it was really small and not much to eat. I didn’t have any.

They have a free topping bar where you can top off your tacos with your favourite toppings. Looks like it’s been sitting there all day out in the open…They also had heated beans which didn’t look to appetizing were slightly spicy and surprisingly alright, but had to ask the staff for a bowl.

It’s a good chilling restaurant, but I found the prices to be expensive for the amount and quality. I’m surprised with all the good reviews – maybe it was just a bad day? However, it wont be my return-to-restaurant for Mexican food

Mucho Burrito on Broadway

Mucho Burrito on Urbanspoon

The place was pretty big and festive-looking, but only a table was occupied. It was our first time being there so I felt a bit suspicious of the quality of the food due to the lack of customers. The guy at the counter was really friendly and happy. When he found out it was our first time there, he showed us the size of the wraps. Sheepie got the regular burrito for around $8 which comes with sauce, corn tortilla chips and any drink. You select what you’d like in your burrito, pretty much like at Subway.

I wasn’t too hungry, so I ordered the kids Chicken Quesadilla $4.95 which came with chips and a can for drink.

The place was quiet and clean, but slightly lonely. The food was ok. Sorry, I’m just not a fan of eating too much fast food or heavy stuff. It was nice that the chips weren’t salted so they were easy for me to eat. The burritos may look a bit small, but it’s packed with meat, rice, beans and veggies. Sheepie was quite stuffed with his burrito.

Second Time

This time, I ordered the Taqueria Salad $9.75 with Chicken, ranchero dressing. I had pretty much every topping on it except any hot peppers. The portion was pretty large. It was really good! Not as good as Chipotle, I must admit, but the ingredients were fresh and tasty.idearabbit-muchoburrito22

Sheepie had the Burrito which looks like a large potato, lol. He was quite stuffed by the end.
