Bubble Waffle

Bubble Waffle Cafe on UrbanspoonWhile shopping at Aberdeen mall in Richmond, a friend suggested Sheepie and I try the egg waffles $3.95 each which is an eggy leavened batter cooked between two plates of semi-spherical cells. I ordered the Green Tea, Sheepie naturally had the chocolate, and his friend ordered the cheesecake. Sheepie also ordered a cold Milk Tea $2.

The cashier told us it would be a 10 minute wait, but I think it was closer to 15 minutes. Cashier was friendly despite the long lineup, but the person who was serving the food wasn’t.idearabbit-bubblewaffle

idearabbit-bubblewaffle2I am not sure what kind of ingredients they used for the Green Tea. If they mixed in matcha powder into the egg batter, then they must have used a lot to make it so green. It’s the only reason I can think of that kept me awake till 7am! (yes, I am extremely sensitive to caffeine T_T). Next time, I’ll stick to plain or strawberry…

JJ Bean in Yaletown

JJ Bean on Urbanspoon

The cafe is clean, open concept with a good selection of food. The staff are friendly and the tea is affordable – especially for being in Yaletown. I ordered a cup of Vanilla Rooibos $2.50. There are high chairs and tables with chairs and booths to meet your different needs.

Faubourg

Faubourg on UrbanspoonI’ve always seen this place packed with trendy, Yaletown-like or more rather Coal-harbour like customers inside. The chandeliers from the windows were always attractive and was wanting to check it out for a while.

idearabbit-faubourg idearabbit-faubourg2 idearabbit-faubourg3 idearabbit-faubourg5idearabbit-faubourg4I decided to have coffee and dessert with my friend around 2pm on a Sunday. I ordered the Vanilla Rooibos tea $3.30 and Creme Brulee $5.05. Servers were friendly and helpful. Hearing quite a bit of French in the cafe from the customers was a nice change of atmosphere when I usually hear Chinese or Korean in my environment. The cafe was again packed and got a little table by the window, which wasn’t a good idea on a cool winter day since I froze.

idearabbit-faubourg6 idearabbit-faubourg7The tea pot is cute, though the lid’s knob is pretty hot!! The Creme Brulee’s sugar coating was almost impossible to break through. I think the opening of the plastic container is too small, making it unbreakable. Even after I broke through, it was difficult eating the thing. In the end, there was about a third of the crispy top leftover as I just couldn’t get them to break off from the sides of the plastic cup. The taste was good, and the fruits were fresh and sweet.
