Burger King in Port Coquitlam

I’ve seen the cute chicken’s packaging, and been tempted to order them before. I finally did this time and ordered the Chicken Fries $3.99. The packaging is delightful (though not eco-friendly), with a compartment on the top to hold the sauce. (I had honey mustard). Even after you opened, it, there was a way to hold the opened packet of sauce. Not sure if I was using it right, but it did hold.

The chicken fries on the other hand was a disappointment. It was hard, dry, and not much flavour unless you dunk a lot into the honey mustard sauce (or whatever you may order). It was pricey, considering you can get 5 good pieces of chicken nuggets for $1.89 at Wendy’s.

The staff was friendly. The place was very clean, as there were no other customers dning during our visit. Would not order the Chicken Fries again.

La Tortilleria

On a Sunday afternoon, Sheepie and I went to Granville Island for a short visit. We decided to grab and bite and came upon La Tortilleria. Their menu boards were updated and replaced the chalkboards with a printed menu.

I wanted the crispy bowl of chicken and beans, but Sheepie wanted a burrito, so we had that instead. There was a ‘mock-up’ of the dish, and the first thing that Sheepie said when our dish was served was ‘hey, that looks much smaller than the what they had.’

The Chicken Burrito $9: It looked pretty good, but there wasn’t much of a flavour to grasp. It was all very mellow, except for a very small hint of cilantro in the salsa. There were a lot of ‘water’ and the sauce was diluted, and the burrito was sitting in a puddle getting soaked. The price is high for what you get, though I understand it’s Granville Island.

Mucho Burrito on Davie

After having a good experience with the Broadway location and since I was craving some Mexican food, I decided to drop by the one on Davie. It was after 5pm on a weekday and it was pretty much dead empty with one guy paying at the till.

I ordered the Taqueria Salad $9.25 with chicken, veggies, beans and toppings. The staff fired up the fan to cook some onions and green pepper over the fire, but it was cooked too short as they were pretty raw. I didn’t mind the green peppers, but the thick onions were a bit of an attack on my taste buds so I put them aside.

Since it was take-out, it was served in a clear plastic box. This time, I would have to say the flavour wasn’t a rich. The ingredients didn’t seem to blend together, and was no match for Chipotle…

Service was satisfactory but was a bit disappointed in the food this time. Perhaps it was just that time. Would give it another chance.
